Bluegill

If you're looking for some classic bluegill action near Graymoor-Devondale, Kentucky, the smaller lakes and ponds scattered throughout the region are your best bet. These often-overlooked waters can hold surprisingly large bluegill, especially those with good vegetation and structure. Spring, during the spawn, is prime time. Look for bedding areas in shallow, protected coves. A simple bobber and worm is tough to beat, but small jigs and insect imitations can also be very effective. A local tip: many of the smaller ponds are on private property, so always seek permission before fishing. Public access can be found at some of the larger parks in the Louisville Metro area, though.
