Largemouth Bass

Graymoor-Devondale, being close to Louisville, grants access to several smaller lakes and ponds that hold largemouth bass. While not known for trophy-sized fish, these waters offer convenient and often overlooked fishing opportunities. Spring is the peak season, coinciding with the bass spawn. Focus on shallow, weedy areas where the fish will be actively nesting. Smaller plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits are effective choices. Summer can also be productive, especially during early morning or late evening hours when the fish are more active. For a quick fishing trip, try some of the smaller community lakes – often, they are lightly fished and hold surprising numbers of bass.
