Looking for some panfish action near Florence, SC? Bluegill are abundant in many of the ponds, lakes, and slow-moving creeks in the area. Look for them in waters like Lake Swamp or the backwaters of the Great Pee Dee River. Spring and early summer, during the spawning season, are the best times to target bluegill. They'll be congregated in shallow, protected areas near vegetation. A simple bobber and worm rig is a classic and effective method. For a more sporting approach, try small poppers or dry flies.
