Destin, Florida, known for its stunning beaches, also harbors a healthy population of bull sharks in its inshore waters and nearshore Gulf areas. While not as common a target as other species, the 'World's Luckiest Fishing Village' provides ample opportunities to encounter these apex predators. The Choctawhatchee Bay and its connecting waterways are productive areas. The best time to target bull sharks in Destin is during the warmer months, from late spring to early fall. Focus your efforts around dawn and dusk, particularly near the mouth of the bay and around docks or piers. A local's secret? Try fishing near the artificial reefs just offshore; they attract a variety of marine life, including bull sharks on the hunt. Remember to use heavy tackle and wire leaders, and practice catch-and-release to help maintain the health of the local shark population. Always check the current regulations regarding shark fishing in the area.
