Carp

If you're after carp in Nebraska, Trumbull offers some surprisingly good opportunities. The Platte River, which flows nearby, is a known carp hotspot, and smaller creeks and drainage ditches in the area can also hold decent-sized fish. Carp fishing really heats up here in the spring as the water warms and they begin to spawn. Look for them in shallow, weedy areas. Summer can be good too, especially early mornings and evenings. A local tip: pre-baiting your chosen spot for a few days before you fish can significantly increase your chances of success. Corn is a classic choice, but dough balls and even boilies can work well. Access to the Platte can be tricky in some areas, so do your research and look for public access points or areas where you can wade safely. The carp here aren't particularly pressured, so even relatively simple tactics can be effective. Don't be afraid to experiment with different baits and rigs to see what they're biting on.
