Cobia

Cobia, also known as Ling, are a prized catch for anglers fishing out of Point Comfort. These powerful fish are often found around buoys, channel markers, and offshore structures. Spring and early summer are prime times to target them, as they migrate along the coast. Sight fishing is a popular technique, so keep an eye out for Cobia cruising near the surface. Live eels, crabs, and menhaden are excellent bait choices. Don't underestimate the power of a well-placed jig or swimbait either. A key tactic is chumming. Deploying a chum slick can attract Cobia from a distance, bringing them within casting range. Launching from Port O'Connor provides easy access to productive offshore waters.
