Crappie

Crappie fishing near Judsonia can be quite productive, especially in the numerous oxbow lakes and backwaters connected to the Little Red River. These areas offer the ideal habitat for crappie, with plenty of submerged structure and shallow, protected areas for spawning. Spring is prime time, as the crappie move into the shallows to spawn, but you can also find them in deeper water during the summer and fall months. Minnows and jigs are the go-to baits, and fishing around brush piles and submerged trees is a surefire way to find crappie. A great access point is at the boat ramp near the Highway 36 bridge, giving you access to both the river and several nearby backwaters.
