Crappie

If you're headed to Summit, Arkansas in search of crappie, you're in for a treat. Bull Shoals Lake, just a short drive away, is renowned for its excellent crappie fishing. The lake's numerous coves, submerged timber, and deep, clear waters provide ideal habitat. Spring and fall are prime times, as crappie move into shallower waters to spawn or feed aggressively before winter. A local tip: target the flooded timber in coves during the spring spawn using jigs or minnows under a bobber. In the fall, try trolling crankbaits along the edges of creek channels. Keep an eye on the water clarity – Bull Shoals can fluctuate, and crappie tend to prefer slightly stained water. Also, be aware of lake levels, as access to certain areas can change. The crappie in Bull Shoals are known for their good size, with many anglers catching fish exceeding 12 inches.
