Crappie

Crappie anglers near Hinsdale have several options within a short drive. The numerous forest preserve lakes and ponds, such as those in the Busse Woods and Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve, hold decent populations of crappie. Spring, during the pre-spawn and spawn, is the absolute best time to target them, as they congregate in shallow water near vegetation. Small jigs tipped with minnows or waxworms are highly effective.
