Hybrid Striped Bass

If you're chasing hard-fighting hybrid striped bass in Northeast Georgia, Demorest offers a fantastic base of operations. Hybrids thrive in the open water and can be targeted with live bait like blueback herring or gizzard shad, as well as with trolling crankbaits and casting swimbaits. Spring and fall are prime times, as the hybrids move shallower to feed. Summer can be productive too, but you'll generally find them holding deeper, often near the dam. A good starting point is the Highway 17 bridge area, where the river channel swings close to the road.
