Hybrid Striped Bass

If you're chasing Hybrid Striped Bass in northeast Texas, Edgewood is a great jumping-off point. Lake Tawakoni, just a short drive away, is renowned for its excellent hybrid striper fishery. These hard-fighting fish thrive in Tawakoni's open waters, chasing shad schools. Spring and fall are prime times, as the hybrids become more active in cooler water temperatures. Look for birds diving on baitfish schools – that's a sure sign hybrids are nearby. Early morning and late evening are generally the most productive times. For bank access, try the Lake Tawakoni State Park; for boaters, several public ramps are available, but be aware that Tawakoni can get rough with wind, so check the forecast before heading out. Locals often have success trolling crankbaits or casting swimbaits and topwater lures near points and humps. Don't be afraid to experiment with different depths to find where the fish are holding.
