Hybrid Striped Bass

If you're after some hard-fighting hybrid striped bass near Krum, Texas, Lake Ray Roberts is where you want to be. These aggressive fish are known for their powerful runs and willingness to hit a variety of lures. The cooler months, from late fall through early spring, are ideal for targeting hybrids as they school up and actively feed on shad. Look for surface activity or use your electronics to locate schools of baitfish. Trolling crankbaits, casting swimbaits, or using live shad are all effective methods. Focus on main lake points, humps, and areas near the dam. Water releases from the dam can often trigger a feeding frenzy. There are several public boat ramps around the lake, providing easy access. Be mindful of wind conditions, as Ray Roberts can get choppy. These fish can be line shy, so consider lighter fluorocarbon leaders.
