Hybrid Striped Bass

If you're after some hard-fighting hybrid striped bass in the Saint Jo, Texas area, look no further than Lake Nocona. This reservoir is stocked regularly, providing a consistent population of these aggressive fish. Spring and fall are prime times to target hybrids as they school up and actively feed. Early mornings and late evenings are typically the most productive. Try trolling crankbaits or casting swimbaits near the dam or along submerged humps. Keep an eye on your electronics for bait balls – the hybrids won't be far behind. Local tip: The north end of the lake, near the confluence of the two river channels, often holds good numbers of hybrids. Be mindful of the wind, as it can pick up quickly on Lake Nocona, making boat control challenging.
