Largemouth Bass

Lake Martin, near Alexander City, is a renowned destination for largemouth bass fishing in Alabama. Its clear waters and diverse structure, including docks, submerged timber, and rocky points, provide ample habitat for bass to thrive. Spring is prime time, as bass move shallow to spawn. Target bedding areas in the backs of creeks and coves with soft plastics and topwater lures. Summer sees the bass moving deeper to cooler waters, so switch to crankbaits, Carolina rigs, and deep-diving swimbaits. Fall is another excellent time as bass feed heavily before winter. A key tip for Lake Martin is to pay attention to the thermocline, as bass will often congregate just above it. Numerous boat ramps provide easy access to the lake. Be aware that Lake Martin can get busy, especially on weekends, so consider fishing during the week or early in the morning.
