Largemouth Bass

Andalusia, Alabama, offers some excellent Largemouth Bass fishing in its many lakes and ponds. While not a renowned trophy bass destination, the area provides consistent action and is perfect for anglers of all skill levels. Gantt Lake and Point A Lake are two local favorites, both part of the Conecuh River system. Spring and fall are prime times to target largemouth here. During the spring, focus on shallow, weedy areas where bass are spawning. In the fall, they move towards deeper water as the temperatures cool. A local tip: Spinnerbaits and crankbaits work well around the edges of grass beds, while Texas-rigged worms and jigs are effective for probing deeper structure. Public access is available at several boat ramps around both lakes. Largemouth in these waters average between 2 and 4 pounds, with opportunities for larger fish, especially during the pre-spawn period.
