Largemouth Bass

Largemouth Bass fishing around Bullhead City, Arizona, centers on the Colorado River and its backwaters. While the river itself holds some Largemouth, the impoundments and sloughs off the main channel are where you'll find the most consistent action. Lake Mohave, just upstream, and the various backwaters offer ideal habitat. Spring and fall are the best times to target them, as the bass are actively feeding. Focus on areas with vegetation, submerged structure, and rocky points. Largemouth in this area tend to be ambush predators, so lures that mimic their natural prey, such as shad or bluegill, are highly effective. A local's trick is to fish the early morning or late evening hours, especially during the hot summer months, when the bass are more active. Be mindful of the extreme desert heat and bring plenty of water.
