Largemouth Bass

Northwest Arkansas is prime bass country, and Farmington is a great launching point for targeting largemouth. Several nearby lakes and reservoirs, like Lake Fayetteville and Lake Sequoyah, offer excellent bass fishing. Spring and fall are peak seasons, as the bass move shallow to spawn or feed aggressively before winter. During the spring, focus on shallow coves and spawning beds with spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics. In the fall, target points and drop-offs with crankbaits and jigs. Lake Fayetteville is known for its clear water, so use fluorocarbon line and natural-colored lures. Lake Sequoyah tends to be more stained, so darker lures and heavier line are a good choice. Check the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission website for updated regulations and lake conditions. Boat ramps are available at both lakes, but can get crowded on weekends.
