Largemouth Bass

Keiser, Arkansas, though a smaller town, offers access to some productive largemouth bass fishing in the surrounding oxbow lakes and drainage ditches connected to the Mississippi River. These backwater areas provide ideal habitat for largemouth, with plenty of submerged vegetation and structure. Spring is undoubtedly the best time to target them, as the bass move into the shallows to spawn. Look for bedding areas in the backs of coves and around cypress trees. A local tip: Flipping jigs and plastics into heavy cover is a reliable tactic. Also, don't overlook the smaller drainage ditches; they can hold surprisingly large bass, especially after a rain. The largemouth in this region are generally healthy and aggressive, often exhibiting ambush-style feeding behavior. Be prepared to fish slow and methodically, especially during the warmer months.
