Largemouth Bass

Gumbranch offers a classic southern largemouth bass fishing experience, with numerous ponds, lakes, and slow-moving creeks holding good populations of these fish. The Ogeechee River also runs nearby, providing additional opportunities. Spring is prime time, as bass move shallow to spawn, but fall can also be productive as they feed heavily before winter. Focus on areas with heavy cover, such as lily pads, submerged timber, and grass lines. Plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits are all effective lure choices. Many of the smaller ponds are privately owned, so always seek permission before fishing. The larger public lakes, like those within state parks or recreational areas (if any are nearby), offer boat ramps and other amenities. Largemouth in this area tend to be relatively healthy, with a good chance of landing a fish in the 3-5 pound range, and the occasional bigger fish.
