Largemouth Bass

While Ashton, Idaho, is renowned for its trout fishing, you can find largemouth bass in some of the warmer, slower-moving waters in the surrounding area. Look to reservoirs and ponds slightly further afield, as the Henrys Fork River itself is too cold and fast for bass. Warm River Campground Pond is a popular option. Summer is the prime time for bass fishing here, when the water temperatures are at their highest. Focus on areas with vegetation or submerged structure, as bass will use these as ambush points. A local tip is to use weedless lures, such as Texas-rigged worms or spinnerbaits, to navigate the abundant aquatic vegetation. While the bass population isn't huge, you can still have success with persistence and the right approach. Remember to check local regulations for specific water bodies, as some may have size or catch limits.
