Largemouth Bass

Bellevue, Idaho, offers some surprisingly good largemouth bass fishing, especially if you know where to look. While not a renowned bass destination, the smaller reservoirs and ponds scattered around the Wood River Valley can hold some decent fish. Lake Creek Reservoir is a local favorite, known for its relatively shallow, weedy structure that bass love. Spring and early summer are prime times, as the fish are actively spawning and feeding. Focus on the shallows near weed lines and submerged timber. Another good time is fall, as the bass are bulking up for winter. A local tip: pay attention to water levels, as they can fluctuate significantly. Also, remember that many of these waters are relatively small, so stealth is key. Approach quietly and avoid spooking the fish. The bass here aren't particularly pressured, so simple presentations like spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and Texas-rigged worms can be highly effective.
