Largemouth Bass

While Soda Springs, Idaho, is better known for its natural springs and history, largemouth bass fishing can be found in some of the smaller reservoirs and ponds in the surrounding area. These aren't huge fisheries, but they offer a chance to catch bass in a relatively secluded setting. Early summer, post-spawn, is a good time to target bass as they are actively feeding. Late summer evenings can also be productive. A good starting point is Conda Reservoir, located a short drive from Soda Springs. It has a boat ramp and offers decent access. Focus on fishing around weed edges and submerged structure. Local anglers often have success with plastic worms and crankbaits. Keep in mind that these reservoirs are typically smaller and can be heavily pressured, so a stealthy approach is often necessary. Also, water levels can fluctuate, so be sure to check conditions before heading out. The bass in this area tend to be on the smaller side, but they can still provide a fun day of fishing.
