Largemouth Bass

Old Mill Creek offers some surprisingly good largemouth bass fishing in its numerous small lakes, ponds, and connected waterways. The key here is targeting the heavily vegetated areas and submerged structure these bass love. Spring (late April-May) is prime time as the bass move shallow to spawn, and you'll find success with spinnerbaits, Texas-rigged worms, and topwater frogs. Fall (September-October) can also be productive as the fish feed heavily before winter. A local tip: Many of the ponds are connected by small channels navigable by kayak or canoe, allowing you to cover more water. Be aware that some areas may have limited public access, so check local regulations and obtain permission where necessary. The bass here tend to be on the smaller side, but the sheer numbers and aggressive strikes make for a fun day on the water.
