Glen Elder Reservoir, also known as Waconda Lake, is a fantastic destination for largemouth bass anglers in Kansas. This large reservoir provides diverse habitat, from rocky shorelines and submerged timber to expansive weed flats, catering to various fishing styles. Spring and fall are peak seasons, with the pre-spawn and post-spawn periods in spring offering exceptional opportunities. In the fall, bass will be actively feeding before winter. A key to success at Glen Elder is understanding the water level fluctuations, which can significantly impact bass location. During periods of stable water, focus on the weed edges and submerged structure. When the water is rising, bass will often move shallower, following the new cover. The north and west arms of the lake tend to hold more vegetation. Public boat ramps are available, but be prepared for wind, as Glen Elder can get quite choppy. Local tournaments are common, so be aware of potential crowds.
