Largemouth Bass

If you're targeting largemouth bass in northern Kentucky, Warsaw offers access to some productive waters. The Ohio River and its backwaters near Warsaw can hold some surprisingly good bass, especially in the spring and fall. Focus on areas with submerged timber, riprap along the shoreline, and any creek mouths flowing into the river. The backwater sloughs and flooded timber can be especially productive during the spawn. Remember that river levels can fluctuate dramatically, so check conditions before you head out. A local tip is to try fishing the numerous small ponds and lakes in the surrounding countryside; many of these are privately owned but some offer public access or can be fished with permission, and often hold less pressured fish. The bass in this area tend to be opportunistic feeders, so a variety of lures can work, but spinnerbaits and crankbaits are consistently effective.
