Largemouth Bass

Aberdeen, Maryland, while known for its proximity to the Chesapeake Bay, also provides some decent freshwater largemouth bass fishing. The Bush River and its tributaries, along with several smaller lakes and ponds in the area, offer a variety of bass fishing environments. Spring is undoubtedly the best time to target largemouth, as they move into the shallows to spawn. Look for them around submerged vegetation, docks, and fallen trees. Summer can still be productive, but you'll need to fish deeper and focus on areas with shade and current. The Susquehanna State Park offers decent bank fishing access to the river. Many of the smaller ponds are accessible from the shore, but check for local regulations regarding access and permits. Bass in this region tend to be structure-oriented, so focus your efforts on areas that provide cover. Also, consider using weedless lures, as aquatic vegetation can be dense in some areas.
