Largemouth Bass

Hancock, Maryland, offers some excellent largemouth bass fishing, primarily in the upper Potomac River and its associated canal system. The C&O Canal, in particular, provides a unique fishing experience with its calm waters and abundant vegetation. Spring and fall are generally the best times to target bass here. In the spring, focus on pre-spawn and spawning bass in the shallows, using lures like spinnerbaits and crankbaits. As the water warms up, target deeper structure with jigs and Texas-rigged worms. A great access point is the Hancock Boat Ramp on the Potomac. Be mindful of the current in the river, especially after rain, and consider using heavier weights to keep your bait in the strike zone. The bass in this area are known for being aggressive, so be prepared for some exciting action.
