Largemouth Bass

The area around Seminary, Mississippi, offers some excellent largemouth bass fishing, particularly in the numerous small lakes and ponds scattered throughout the region. Many of these are privately owned, but some offer public access or can be fished with permission. Okatoma Lake, a bit further afield, is a good option for a larger body of water. Spring is the peak season, with bass moving into the shallows to spawn. Target areas with vegetation, such as lily pads and hydrilla, with spinnerbaits, topwater lures, and soft plastics. Fall is also a productive time, as bass feed aggressively before winter. A local tip: pay attention to water clarity; in clearer water, use more natural-looking baits, while in stained water, opt for brighter colors. Be prepared for warm, humid conditions during the summer months.
