While West Wendover might be better known for other attractions, anglers can still find some largemouth bass fishing within reasonable driving distance. Several small reservoirs and ponds in the surrounding area offer opportunities to target these fish. Spring and early summer are prime times, as the bass are actively feeding and spawning. Focus on areas with vegetation, submerged structure, and points. Local tip: Water levels in these reservoirs can fluctuate significantly, so it's always a good idea to check conditions before heading out. A variety of lures and techniques can be effective, but spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics are always good choices. Bass populations in these smaller waters can be sensitive to fishing pressure, so practice catch and release to help maintain the fishery.
