Largemouth Bass

Manchester, New Hampshire might be known for its urban landscape, but it holds some surprisingly good largemouth bass fishing. The Merrimack River, as it flows through the city, offers a mix of backwaters, submerged structure, and weed beds that create ideal habitat. Lake Massabesic, a short drive from the city center, is another excellent option. The best time to target largemouth here is late spring and early summer, when they're actively spawning. Look for them in shallow, weedy areas. A key to success in the Merrimack is adapting to the current; fish points and eddies where bass can ambush prey. For Lake Massabesic, be aware of boating restrictions and access points; a city permit might be required. The largemouth population here is healthy, with a good mix of sizes, and you might even hook into a real lunker.
