Largemouth bass thrive in these tea-colored waters, often holding tight to submerged vegetation and woody structure. Spring and fall are the prime times, as bass are actively feeding during the spawn (spring) and preparing for winter (fall). Topwater lures, spinnerbaits, and shallow-diving crankbaits work well when bass are actively feeding near the surface. During midday, try flipping jigs or Texas-rigged plastics around docks and fallen trees. A local tip: due to the shallow nature of the lakes, a kayak or canoe is ideal for accessing prime fishing areas and navigating through weed beds. The water clarity is typically low, so using lures with bright colors or rattles can help bass locate your bait. Also be aware of the local lake association rules, which may restrict motorboat usage on certain lakes.
