Largemouth Bass

Ahoskie, North Carolina, offers some excellent Largemouth Bass fishing in its network of rivers, creeks, and ponds. The Cashie River is a local favorite, winding through cypress swamps and offering plenty of cover for bass. Look for fallen trees, lily pads, and submerged vegetation. Spring is prime time, as the bass move shallow to spawn. However, the fall can also be very productive as they feed aggressively before winter. For success in these waters, consider using weedless lures such as Texas-rigged worms or spinnerbaits, as the vegetation can be thick. Topwater lures can also be effective early in the morning or late in the evening. Launching a small boat or kayak from the public ramp at the Highway 13 bridge provides good access to the Cashie. Be aware of the current and potential for submerged timber. The bass in this region tend to be aggressive, so don't be afraid to experiment with different retrieves and lure colors.
