Largemouth Bass

Cedar Point, North Carolina, while known for its proximity to saltwater fishing, also offers some freshwater largemouth bass opportunities in nearby rivers and creeks. The White Oak River and its tributaries, along with smaller ponds and lakes in the surrounding area, can hold decent populations of largemouth. Spring is a particularly productive time, as the bass move into shallower waters to spawn. Look for them around submerged vegetation, docks, and other structure. Soft plastics, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits are all effective lures. Be aware that the water in these areas can be brackish, so select lures and tackle accordingly. Access to these waters is often available through public boat ramps and parks. The largemouth in this region tend to be aggressive feeders, especially in the early morning and late evening. Local tip: Pay attention to the tides, as they can influence fish activity in the brackish sections of the rivers and creeks.
