Largemouth Bass

Clinton, North Carolina, while perhaps not the first place that comes to mind for bass fishing, offers some surprisingly good opportunities for largemouth bass. Several smaller lakes and ponds dot the landscape around Clinton, providing accessible and productive fishing. One example is the Sampson County Water Park lake. Spring and fall are the prime times, as the bass are more active in the moderate temperatures. Spinnerbaits and crankbaits work well along the edges of the lakes, while soft plastics can be effective in the deeper water. Many of these locations are easily fished from the bank. The bass in these smaller bodies of water tend to be aggressive, and you might even find a hidden lunker!
