Largemouth Bass

Webster, North Carolina, nestled in the Tuckasegee River valley, offers some surprisingly good largemouth bass fishing. While not a trophy bass destination, the Tuckasegee and its associated impoundments hold a healthy population of bass that can provide a fun day on the water. Spring and early summer are excellent, as the bass move shallow to spawn. Target areas around docks, laydowns, and rocky points. The Tuckasegee River itself can be productive, particularly in the slower-moving sections and around submerged cover. A local tip: Pay attention to water clarity. The 'Tuck' can get muddy quickly after rain, so clear water is key. Try using spinnerbaits or crankbaits in stained water, and switch to soft plastics in clearer conditions. Also, consider exploring some of the smaller ponds and lakes in the area – they often hold overlooked populations of bass.
