Largemouth Bass

Central Pennsylvania bass anglers, take note: Carlisle offers some excellent largemouth bass fishing within a short drive. While the Yellow Breeches Creek is famous for its trout, the area's smaller lakes and ponds, like Fuller Lake in Pine Grove Furnace State Park, hold surprisingly good populations of largemouth. Spring and early summer are fantastic, as the bass are in post-spawn and actively feeding. Fall is another great time, with cooler water temperatures triggering a feeding frenzy before winter. For Fuller Lake, try targeting the weed lines and submerged structure with plastics or crankbaits. A local tip: Fuller Lake is relatively small and can get crowded, especially on weekends. Consider fishing early in the morning or on weekdays for a more peaceful experience. The bass in these smaller waters tend to be opportunistic feeders, so don't be afraid to experiment with different lure presentations.
