Northern Pike

If you're looking to tangle with northern pike near Carlisle, Pennsylvania, consider heading to the Susquehanna River or some of the larger lakes in the area. While not as abundant as in more northern states, pike can be found lurking in weedy areas and around submerged structure. Spring, just after ice-out, and fall are the best times to target them, as they become more active in cooler water. The Susquehanna River offers plenty of pike habitat, especially in the backwaters and sloughs. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are effective lures.
