Largemouth Bass

If you're looking for largemouth bass in northwestern Pennsylvania, Mill Village offers some under-the-radar opportunities. While not as famous as some of the larger lakes in the state, the smaller lakes and ponds scattered around the area can hold some surprisingly hefty bass. Lake Pleasant, just a short drive from Mill Village, is a solid option. It offers decent shoreline access in some areas, but a small boat or kayak will dramatically increase your chances of finding those hidden honey holes. Focus on areas with submerged vegetation or fallen timber, as the largemouth love to ambush prey from cover. Spring and fall are prime times, as the bass are actively feeding before and after the summer heat. A local tip: try fishing during periods of low light, early morning or late evening, near the inlets where small streams feed into the lake. These areas often hold baitfish and, consequently, hungry bass. The largemouth population here tends to be healthy, with a good mix of sizes, so you might just hook into a real lunker.
