Largemouth Bass

Jefferson City, Tennessee, offers some fantastic largemouth bass fishing, particularly in Cherokee Lake. This large reservoir provides diverse habitat, from shallow coves and weed beds to deep, rocky points and submerged timber. Spring is undoubtedly the best time to target largemouth here, as they move shallow to spawn. Focus on the backs of coves and around any available cover. During the summer months, try fishing deeper water with Carolina rigs or crankbaits. Fall can also be productive as the bass feed up before winter. A local tip: Pay attention to the shad population. The bass in Cherokee Lake are heavily reliant on shad as a food source, so match your lure size and color to the prevailing shad size. Also, be aware that Cherokee Lake can get crowded, especially on weekends, so consider fishing during the week or exploring some of the less-traveled areas of the lake. The largemouth here can be quite hefty, so be prepared for a good fight.
