Largemouth Bass

While Carbonado, Washington, is known for its stunning mountain scenery and proximity to Mount Rainier National Park, it's not exactly a largemouth bass mecca. Opportunities exist in smaller, lesser-known lakes and ponds in the surrounding areas. These often require a bit of exploration to find, but the reward can be a quiet day of fishing away from the crowds. Focus on smaller, warmer water bodies that aren't heavily pressured. Look for lakes with weed beds, lily pads, and submerged structure. The best time to target bass in these smaller waters is during the warmer months, from late spring through summer. Early morning and late evening are often the most productive times. Small plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and topwater lures can all be effective. Be prepared for smaller-sized bass, as these waters often don't produce trophy-sized fish. Access to these lakes can sometimes be limited, so be sure to research access points and any permit requirements before heading out. Respect private property and practice catch and release to help maintain the fishery.
