Largemouth Bass

For Largemouth Bass anglers visiting the northwest corner of Washington, Lynden provides access to some productive, if often overlooked, bass fishing. While not a trophy bass destination, the smaller lakes and sloughs around Lynden offer good action for numbers of bass. The Nooksack River and its associated sloughs can be surprisingly good, especially during the warmer months. Focus on areas with submerged vegetation, fallen trees, and docks. Early morning and late evening are typically the best times to fish, especially during the summer heat. A Texas-rigged worm or a spinnerbait are reliable choices. Local anglers often have success with topwater lures during low-light conditions. Be aware that water levels in the sloughs can fluctuate depending on rainfall and river flow, so check conditions before heading out. Respect private property along the waterways, and always obtain permission before fishing on private land. A valid Washington State fishing license is required.
