Largemouth Bass

Mossyrock, Washington, is ideally situated for some fantastic largemouth bass fishing, thanks to its proximity to Riffe Lake. This large reservoir offers excellent habitat for largemouth, with plenty of submerged timber, weed beds, and rocky shorelines. The best time to target largemouth here is during the spring spawning season and again in the fall as they fatten up for winter. During the spawn, focus on shallow bays and coves. In the fall, look for bass near structure in deeper water. Popular techniques include fishing with plastic worms, crankbaits, and topwater lures. Several boat ramps provide easy access to the lake, and there are also some areas for shoreline fishing. Riffe Lake is known for producing some quality largemouth, with fish over 5 pounds a real possibility. Be aware that the water level can fluctuate, so check the lake level before you go and adjust your fishing strategy accordingly. A local tip is to pay attention to the wind, as it can concentrate bass along windward shorelines.
