Largemouth Bass

Just a short drive from Wenatchee, the Columbia River offers decent largemouth bass fishing, particularly in backwater sloughs and protected coves. While the Columbia isn't primarily known for its largemouth, the warmer, shallower areas provide suitable habitat. Focus your efforts during the late spring and early summer when the bass are spawning, or in the fall as they fatten up for winter. Look for areas with submerged vegetation, docks, and other structure. A practical tip: the area near the mouth of the Wenatchee River can hold some decent largemouth, especially during periods of lower flow. The largemouth in this section of the Columbia tend to be opportunistic feeders, so try a variety of lures, including spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics. River access can be found at various parks and boat launches along the Columbia River in the Wenatchee area.
