If you're after Northern Pike near McHenry, Illinois, the Chain O'Lakes is the place to be. This interconnected system of lakes and channels provides ideal habitat for these ambush predators. Pike thrive in the weedy shallows and around submerged structure, making the early spring and late fall the best times to target them. As the water warms, they tend to move deeper, seeking cooler temperatures. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are effective for covering water and triggering strikes.
