Northern Pike

Targeting Northern Pike near Lathrup Village requires venturing into the larger bodies of water within Oakland County. Cass Lake, just north of Lathrup Village, is a solid option. Pike fishing is best in the spring during and after the spawn, and again in the fall as water temperatures drop. Look for weedy areas and drop-offs where pike ambush their prey. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are effective, as are large shiners fished under a bobber. Access to Cass Lake is available via several public boat launches, but be prepared for potentially crowded conditions, especially on weekends. Pike in this region tend to be relatively pressured, so experiment with different presentations to find what triggers strikes on any given day. Consider using a steel leader to prevent bite-offs.
