Northern Pike

While not widely known as a pike destination, Halltown, Missouri, and the surrounding area do offer limited opportunities for Northern Pike in some of the larger reservoirs and river systems. These fish aren't stocked, but rather have migrated from other areas. Spring is prime time, as pike move into shallower, weedy areas to spawn. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are all good choices. Try focusing on areas with creek inlets or submerged timber. A practical tip is to use a wire leader, as pike have very sharp teeth. Be aware that pike populations are not dense here, making them a prized catch. Be prepared to cover a lot of water and use your electronics to locate potential hotspots. Remember to check the Missouri Department of Conservation regulations for any specific size or creel limits on pike.
