Northern Pike

While not a traditional pike hotspot, Saginaw, Missouri, does offer the adventurous angler a chance at connecting with Northern Pike, primarily within the Spring River. Pike fishing here is a game of persistence and knowing where to look. Focus on areas with submerged vegetation, fallen timber, and slower-moving sections of the river. Early spring, just after ice-out (if applicable), and late fall are your best bets, as pike become more active in cooler water temperatures. Use large spinnerbaits, spoons, or crankbaits to entice strikes. A practical piece of advice: the Spring River can be rocky and shallow in spots, so wading is often necessary. Wear appropriate footwear and be mindful of the current.
