Northern Pike

Targeting northern pike near Harbor View in the Lake Erie watershed requires understanding their preference for weedy areas and ambush points. While not as abundant as in some other regions, pike can be found in the calmer bays and inlets of Lake Erie and the mouths of its tributaries. Spring and early summer, after the spawn, are excellent times to target them as they actively feed. Large spoons, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits are effective lures. A local tip is to explore the backwaters of the Sandusky River, accessible from various public launch points upstream from Sandusky Bay.
