Northern Pike

Looking to tangle with some northern pike in Ohio? Head to Huntsville and Indian Lake. This sprawling lake offers the perfect habitat for these ambush predators, with plenty of weedy shallows, submerged timber, and channel edges where pike lurk. Spring is prime time, as the pike move into the shallows to spawn. Try targeting areas near islands and inlets as the water warms. Fall can also be productive as the fish feed heavily before winter. For bank access, the west side of the lake offers more public access points. Focus on throwing large swimbaits, crankbaits, or spinnerbaits along weed lines. Local tip: The north end of the lake tends to warm up faster in the spring, so start your search there. Indian Lake's pike aren't known for their size, but they are aggressive, offering exciting action for anglers of all skill levels.
