Northern Pike

Northern pike in the Lebanon, Ohio area are primarily found in the Little Miami River and Caesar Creek Lake. While not abundant, these toothy predators offer exciting angling opportunities. Spring is an excellent time to target pike as they move into shallow, weedy areas to spawn. Look for backwater sloughs and creek mouths connected to the river. Early mornings and evenings are often the most productive. Large spinnerbaits, spoons, and crankbaits are effective lures, but don't underestimate the power of a well-presented dead bait, especially in slower-moving sections of the river. For Caesar Creek Lake, try trolling along weed lines or casting into submerged timber. Be prepared for a fight, as these pike can be aggressive. Remember to use a wire leader to prevent bite-offs.
